Gennaro
Pepe was born in Naples, of a Spanish mother and an
Italian father. After a long journey on sea and land,
he arrived on the island of Formentera, where he has
lived for 17 years and still passes the summertime.
In the artesanal atmosphere of the island he came
to learn about the manipulation of glass, starting
with (el candilon). Thanks to the combination of different
techniques, he found his personal style, clearly influenced
by the mediterranean, and the waters of Formentera.
One of the other properties of his work, is the use
of recycled glass which enforces the authenticity
of his work. Even like his pieces created of laboratory
glass, joined by natural elements of the mediterranean,
like corals, shells, stones and algues.
Beside
jewellery, Gennaro also creates sculptures, wallpieces
and decoration. |
In
1999 he obtained the title of glass master. In
2003 he won the first price for quality and design,
in the competition BALEART, in
Mallorca. And in 2008, Expo ZARAGOZA,
choose him, to make their relation gifts.
Nowadays,
Gennaro lives in wintertime in Andalucia, with
his girlfriend, Marjolein Vienne, who works with
him and and creates new designs for jewellery.
In Andalucia, they have their atelier, which will
be open to public, in the near future with expositions,
workshops and courses.
